IRENE MARGOT ENNS - BUSCHAU

August 18, 1936 - July 16, 2024

With her loving husband Gerald at her side, Irene Enns - Buschau passed on July 16, 2024, at the Pinawa Hospital.

Irene is survived by her husband Gerald Buschau, her two sons, Don (Charlene) and Randy (Doreen), her four grandchildren, Mike (Annie), Lindsey (Chris), Steven (Leah), and Lisa (Mack), and her three great-grandchildren, Max, Merritt, and Felix. Irene is also survived by her two sisters, Marlene, and Judy, and by her two brothers, Don (Jean), and Doug (Linda). Irene was also the very proud godmother to her niece Jayne Watt.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Rosa Krampetz, and by her first beloved husband, Herb Enns.

Irene Krampetz was born in Winnipeg on August 18, 1936, to Art and Rose Krampetz. Irene was the oldest of seven siblings and grew up in Winnipeg. at the old Pinawa townsite, and in Seven Sisters Falls, Manitoba. In 1952, at the age of 16 years old, Irene left Seven Sisters Falls and moved to Winnipeg taking on her first full time job. During those early years Irene dated a very young Winnipeg man named Herb Enns. Herb and Irene married in 1954 and ultimately formed a loving relationship that lasted almost 48 years until Herb's sudden and unexpected passing in 2002.

Irene, during much of the last half of the 20th century, held supervisory positions at Western Machine Works and at Eaton's in Winnipeg. It was here at Eaton's that Irene truly became a pioneer in cracking the proverbial glass ceiling and eventually becoming one of the first women promoted to a senior administrative position supervising, and later managing, the gigantic Eaton's data centre. Also, and during this time, Herb and Irene raised their two sons and later into the mid-1990s, Herb and Irene retired to Abbotsford, British Columbia. In British Columbia, Herb and Irene took on volunteer activities with the BC Cancer Society. And with Irene's great managerial skillsets immediately becoming obvious, Irene soon accepted the position of President for local BC Cancer Society chapter. However shortly after Herb's unforeseen passing, Irene subsequently returned to Winnipeg. Several years later Irene met her second husband, Gerald (Gerry) Buschau, marrying Gerry in Regina in 2009. Years later, Irene and Gerry would leave Regina and moved to Pinawa, Manitoba. It was here in Pinawa that Irene would live out her final years.

A Celebration of Life event in Irene's honour, will be held at the Pinawa Lutheran Church on Monday, July 29, 2024, starting at 11:00 a.m.
