Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARON ROBERTA TORGERSON
It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing on July 16, 2024, of Sharon Torgerson (nee Thorvaldson), born March 24, 1939. Sharon went to Gordon Bell High School and United College before proudly graduating as a pediatric nurse in 1960 from the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg.
She and beloved husband Glen chose to raise their children in Wildwood Park, where they made lifelong friends. Sharon was an active volunteer and participant in the community that she loved, and will be remembered by all for her warmth, generosity, and genuine interest in others.
Sharon faced every stage of her life with pragmatism, and would pronounce it fair game to die at 85: “it doesn’t go on forever you know!” She was grateful for her privileged life, and although she and Glen had travelled the world, her heart was always happiest at home, including homes-away-from-home in Mesa, AZ and Victoria Beach. They had just moved into assisted living at The Parkway, and she was very much enjoying this new chapter of her life.
Sharon was predeceased by her son Bob, and leaves behind Glen, husband of 64 years, as well as daughters, Kelly and Karen (Claude Saulnier), grandchildren, Joelle and Shaun Pouliot, sister Bernice (Binnie) Swail of Etobicoke, ON, and numerous nieces and nephews she was so fond of.
It is measure of a life well lived to love and be loved by so many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue Winnipeg, MB on Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Went to high school with Sharon. Lived next door to her on Arlington Street. I lived and worked at Osmonds Grocery next door. An early high school crush. Later met her at a high school reunion where she and Glen came over to say hello. Always gracious. Will miss her and her buddy Sandra. - Posted by: Terry Stratton (High school. ) on: Jul 29, 2024

Sharon was always welcoming to us, whether in Mesa, or Winnipeg. She was most focused on her family and always put them first. Thinking of you all, especially Glen and wishing you wonderful memories of times together as time passes. Sincere condolences, Judy, Bob and Nancy Baker. - Posted by: Judy & Bob Baker (Friends) on: Jul 27, 2024
