Pearl passed away at High River General Hospital, High River, Alberta, on July 26, 2024, at the age of 96.
Beloved wife of the late Gordon Carnahan. Pearl is the mother of Frances (Ken) Van Horne and Murray Rodgers (Liz More). Grandmother to Jeff (Celia) Van Horne, Kevin (Racheal) Van Horne, Jennifer (Geof) Cooper, Andrea Rodgers (Ted Irvine) and Katya McClintock, great-grandmother to Sydney, Andrew, Kellan, Morgan, Siris, Rylee and Brady. Also special friends Bev, and George Abey and their family Aaron, Ashley, Amberley, and Atlee.
Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Florence Williamson, and brother and sister-in-law, Murray and Ede Williamson.
Pearl was born in Belmont, Manitoba where she attended Alma School and teacher training at the Manitoba Normal School in Winnipeg. She continued her teaching career in Mount Hope, Fairfax, Holland, Belmont, Carroll, and Brandon, Manitoba.
Pearl loved music, as she grew up in a musical family. Throughout the years she has continued to be involved in playing the piano and organ. Gordon and Pearl played for many dances, entertained at concerts and volunteered their time and music at most of the Seniors Homes and Hospitals in this area. Many hours spent teaching students to play the fiddle and piano.
Gordon and Pearl were honored by Mayor Atkinson in 2001, on behalf of the Brandon Cowboy Party Gathering, for their outstanding contribution to the development of young Manitoba musicians. In 2002 they were both honoured by the Manitoba Fiddle Association, for their many years in promoting, preserving and encouraging Old Time Fiddle Music. In 2014, Pearl was inducted into the Manitoba Fiddle Association “Wall of Fame”, in Carmen, Manitoba.
Cremation has taken place. Please join us Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba, at 1:00 p.m. for Mom’s Celebration of Life. Following the ceremony, there will be an informal gathering at the Legion, 560-13 Street E, Brandon, Manitoba from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Light lunch will be served.

Pearl was a fantastic pianist and always willing to volunteer! The residents of the home loved her music!!She even played for my retirement party !
