MARJORIE EILEEN WATSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Eileen Watson at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Marjorie was born in Brandon, MB, to parents, Harold and Winnifred Watson, on October 9, 1942.

Marjorie worked at Brown's Drug Store at 9th and Rosser, later accepting a job working for the The Canadian Red Cross in Calgary, AB. At age 23, she and a girlfriend decided to tour Australia for a year, where she met her lifelong partner, Wayne.

Bridge was a favourite pastime of Marjorie and Wayne’s, and they made a great team. They won many bridge congresses over the years. Wayne was a Grand Master and Marjorie a Silver Life Master. Together they resided in Queensland, on Australia's sunshine coast for 46 years. Three years after Wayne’s passing, Marjorie made the decision to return home to Brandon. It was so nice to have her here to be reunited with family and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Eldine Kirkland, on July 17, 2024. She is survived by siblings, David, Dale (Lorraine), Mildred (Len Wenger) and Ralph, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. As per Marjorie’s wishes, no service will be held.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Sad to hear of Marjorie's passing. My condolences to the family. Last time we were together she was still living in Australia; and had no idea she had moved back to Manitoba. I was also saddened to hear of Eldine's passing. Two sisters so close in passing. Double sadness for the family. I check the Brandon obits on occasion and noticed her obituary. May the memories bring comfort in the days ahead. - Posted by: Shelley Watson (Ex sister-in-law) on: Aug 17, 2024
