Cyril spent his early years living in the CN station in Beatty, SK, where his father was the railway agent and telegrapher. Following his father’s death, his mother moved the family to Hudson Bay Junction, SK, Ste. Rose du Lac and then to Brookdale, MB. There he remained until he left for Brandon College where he obtained a B.Sc and B.Ed degrees. Here he met his wife Diane (nee Lytwyn) and made many special life-long friends.

Cyril was a member of and volunteered at various organizations: Knights of Columbus, Brandon Retriever Club, Riverview Curling Club and Christmas Cheer.
As an avid outdoorsman, many hours were spent fishing and hunting with family and friends. Sports were important to Cyril – skiing, curling, canoeing and playing volleyball. Later he enjoyed coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in basketball, hockey, baseball, football and soccer passing on his love of sports. There was never an event that Dad/Grandpa would miss.
After his retirement, Cyril was able to spend more time at the cabin at Chimo Beach and winters in Arizona which he cherished – both the climate and his friends.
Cyril will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Diane and their children, Ben, Elaine (Patrick) Desbiens and Mike (Elsa Taylor); grandchildren Brad (Cassidy), Mitchel (Ida), Tyler (Katherine), Renée, Kayleigh (Justin) and Hailey; and great-grandchildren Zoey, Lincoln and Jaxx. My sincerest sympathy to Diane and family. I was a student with Diane at Vincent Massey in 1970 and with Mr. Fox at BCI thereafter. Wonderful people. Sorry to hear of Cyril’s passing. Also remembering our experience while camping at the Minot retriever trials back about 50 years ago. We had a great time in the storm in the original air stream. Take care Diane. We are thinking of you and all the great times. - Posted by: Wally & Evelyn Clegg (Old Friends) on: Aug 10, 2024
