Peacefully, and with her family by her side, Kathleen passed away on August 3, 2024, after a long fight with chronic illness.
Kathleen was born on November 13, 1957. She attended Rockwood Elementary and Grant Park High School (1975). After graduating from University of Winnipeg with a B.A. in English and Psychology, she received her diploma from the St. Boniface School of Nursing (1983). She worked at St. Boniface Hospital in the intermediate nursery until 1999.
Kathleen is survived by son Brayden (Michelle); siblings, Mark, Shelley (Bryan), and Tom (Sandra); as well as nieces, Rebecca (Andrew), Kelsey (Stu), Victoria (Adam); and nephew Taylor. She was predeceased by parents, Edward and Gladys in 1981 and 2008.
A selfless caregiver who showed tremendous strength in the face of hardship, she will be remembered for her love of learning, a sharp wit, and an uncompromising commitment to honesty and compassion.
Heartfelt thanks are offered to staff of 4-North/South at Victoria Hospital and 2-West at Riverview Health Centre, especially to Sharon, Connie, and Cecile; and to friends, Janice and Brian, Zoe, Vicki, Linda, and many others too numerous to mention.
Service to be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on August 16, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the MS Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
