Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL RICHARD THORVARDSON
Sam Thorvardson leaves behind a legacy of strength, dedication, humour and humility. He leaves us with fond memories of him making hay with his brothers, catching snakes in the field with Hadyn, playing pool or cribbage with friends, or just watching a movie on the couch and cracking jokes.
Sam was predeceased by his parents, Valdi and Edith Thorvardson. Sam is survived by his loving wife Bev of 52 years. He will be dearly missed by his children, Richard (Nadine), Danielle (Gerry), his grandchildren, Learyk, Jerzee and Hadyn, as well as his brothers, Rob, Ken (Isabelle), sister Sylvia (Marcel) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
He retired from MTS after 38 years, then he seemingly worked even harder, working multiple jobs while continuing to make hay and chop wood in his spare time, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was a man of incredible strength, having survived cancer twice as well as a stroke. He was always fun to be around, and his cheeky grin will live on in the memories of everyone who knew him. He loved to give his nurses a hard time, though he loved making them laugh even more.
His family would like to thank his caregivers at Goodwin Lodge, as well as Dr. Loudon, for providing comfort and care in his final days.
Per Sam's wishes, there will be a private interment attended by immediate family.

If we are lucky in this life we get to have some special people we meet along the way. I was one of those people who got to have a man marry my sister and inherit me as a sister-in-law. I lived with Bev and Sam when I left home and moved to Winnipeg they were supportive in every which way. I never feel that thank you is enough for all Sam did for me. You were a great addition to the family Sam and we all loved you so much. Please Rest In Peace my brother, friend and hero. - Posted by: Janice Morin (Sister-in-law) on: Aug 10, 2024
