GIUSEPPE (PINO) CAMPANELLI
With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Giuseppe Pino Campanelli, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, nonno, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his dedicated wife, Teresa (née Curatolo), with whom he shared over 50 years of friendship and fun, and their cherished daughters, Marisa Campanelli (Andrea Bergaglio) and Stefania Campanelli (Bradley Shumila).
He leaves behind a family who adored him: his brothers, Canio, Domenico, Vincenzo, Raffaele, and Adriano; his sisters, Caterina, Grazia, Pasquina, Carmela, and Franca; his 23 beloved nieces and nephews, as well as his godchildren. Pino’s bond with his in-laws, including Anna, Don, Onofrio, and Sandra, was as close as that of siblings. Massimo and Giordana, his twin niece and nephew, were considered as special as his own. With God’s grace, he became a grandfather to little Alessia, who brought joy, laughter, and pride to Nonno Pino.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonardo and Maria; his in-laws, Filomena and Umberto; his brother Vito; his sister-in-law Sandy; and his brother-in-law Mario.
Born in the town of Toritto, Puglia, amid almond and olive groves, he was the eighth of twelve children. At the age of six, he left home for boarding school, where he distinguished himself in sports, excelling in soccer, volleyball, and gymnastics. Discipline, responsibility, and lifelong friendships were the gifts he came away with after attending for nine years.
At fifteen, he ventured to Winnipeg for the summer, where his exceptional soccer skills quickly shone through, earning him recognition and admiration. It was during this period he met Teresa, and their love story began, leading to a life together filled with companionship and cherished memories. His selflessness and caring nature made him a beloved husband and best friend to Teresa.
What gave Pino the most satisfaction was his role as father. Whether it was braiding hair, planning movie night, traveling through Europe, or welcoming two wonderful sons-in-law, Pino was an ever-present source of support and encouragement. His focus was to be a solid example of a man and assist his daughters as they built meaningful and fulfilling lives for themselves.
Pino’s passion for his tile, granite, and marble installation business was evident in his work, which he approached with creativity and precision. Over four decades, he not only built a successful career but also forged lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his peers.
Known for his imitations, storytelling, and legendary antics, he brought humour and laughter to every gathering he attended. His playful wit and comedic nature will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
There are no words to express how grateful we are for our friends and family who have reached out with great compassion and support.
With deepest gratitude, we acknowledge and value the collective of medical/palliative staff who provided Pino with exceptional care while he was cared for at home.
Rest in peace, dear Pino.
Your light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Reverend Father Michael presiding. Condolences will be offered at 10:00 a.m., followed by the eulogy and mass at 11:00.
As per Pino’s wishes, entombment will take place in Italy.

Riposa in cielo amico e fratello. La morte ci ha diviso e un giorno la morte ci unirà. Il tuo sempre Angelo Volpe da Molfetta Puglia, R. I. P. Met Pino’ at our home where he executed his passion and creativity for tiling. I think of him almost every day as I shower in one of his beautiful creations. Our relationship as a client:tiler quickly grew to one of a friendship that felt like someone we had known for years. He so loved that we as Ukrainians lived in Italy and as such he always spoke to us in Italian with so much and passion and love for his country and people. His friendship, “creativity and precision” will remain in our hearts forever. So lucky to have known him … sending our deepest respect and condolences to one very special and unique man! May his memory be eternal. - Posted by: Anastasia and Roman Yereniuk (Friend ) on: Aug 10, 2024
