GWEN VAN VIERSSEN TRIP

Gwen van Vierssen Trip (nee Hasselfield) of Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 91.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son Hector (Janet) and her daughter Earla (Dean); grandchildren. Charles (Stephanie), Barbara, Rachel, Graham (Kiana); great-grandchildren, Livius, Elias, Russel and Beck; and many other family and close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Don and her sister Lorna.

Gwen was born in Deloraine, Manitoba on November 1, 1932. She grew up in Deloraine, attended the University of Manitoba before moving to Toronto, ON where she completed a bachelor of education degree. Gwen taught elementary school in Toronto for many years and later in Thompson, Manitoba. She moved to Brandon, Manitoba where she taught early childhood education at Brandon University while she provided care for her elderly mother. She then taught piano, first at Clark's music studio, and then developed her own music course and business, Open Door Music. She held her last piano recital at the age of 84. Family was always important to her and she visited frequently in the summertime. She was a strong social advocate and did extensive volunteer work. She was a very creative and talented musician and music was always a very important part of her life.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the charity of one's choice. Please join us in celebrating Gwen's life at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332 8th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Delwyn Cemetery in Deloraine, Manitoba.
