From piano teaching mom to technology queen in Manitoba. Anne-Marie, known also as Mimi or Nan, was the ultimate caregiver through good times and bad! Facing challenges straight on with determination and grace. From shepherding her siblings, Diana Simpson (Joel), Michel (Claudette) and Robert (Gabrielle) at a tender age when their mom passed away, to holding space as best she could for her late husband Reynald, who was always the love of her life. From loving and nurturing her three children, Susanne, Ginette and Daniel and their partners, Mario (Bullaro) and Danielle (Sturk), to showering joy and kindness over her grandchildren, Marc (Karen), Elena (Ashish), Félixe, Jazmine, Mattea and Anik, great-grandchildren, Trevor, Layla and Logan and many nieces and nephews. And we can’t forget to mention the attention and concern she had for the many people who worked under her leadership at Prairie Computers and The Technology Consortium!
Anne-Marie also gave the gift of music and oil painting to many. She provided countless hours of lessons in the family home, and today those gifts continue to ripple throughout our community through the people she taught.
A fierce advocate for Manitoba homegrown businesses, she led a successful technology company and dared to make things happen at a time when women were not traditionally let in to evolve and lead in that space. With her keen collaborative spirit, she brought together a few Manitoba competitors to form a consortium and won a large government contract that stunned the major national IT companies at that time. She also found joy in mentoring a younger generation of entrepreneurs who had great ideas and the guts to try it out.
Anne-Marie loved Alert Beach and her many cherished relationships and memories there. A spiritual sanctuary that brought her peace, deep joy, many laughs and a deep connection to the people, the water, the trees, the sky, the birds and the stars. She loved hosting special gatherings, especially at Christmas. All were made to feel that they were special and belonged. Her creative family spirit shone brightest through the crazy and magical shenanigans she would come up with! And in cahoots with her sister Diana, she will be remembered for the abundant laughter through countless silly escapades, and boundless love. Anne-Marie was a blessing to all who knew her.
A deep thank you to the many care teams at the Victoria Hospital and Actionmarguerite St. Vital for their compassionate service and to all the people who sent their love, prayers and wishes as she did the very hard work of finally letting go.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Le Patio 340 on the Centre Culturel Franco Manitobain campus located at 340 Provencher Boulevard. Please dress comfortably for the weather as this is an outdoor event. Celebratory speeches will begin at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Actionmarguerite Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Today is March 20, 2025. I was shocked today to hear of Anne Marie's passing about 8 months ago. I worked for Anne Marie at Prairie Computers and The Technology Consortium. She was, and is to this day, one of my favourite people. She gave me opportunity, encouragement and respect, as she did to so many. She was not only a good person with a big heart, she was a strong, wise woman who was determined to lead her industry to new heights of achievement. The last time I saw her was a chance encounter on Albert Beach a few years ago where we reminisced, laughed and shared a hug. I think of her often. My late condolences to all who knew and loved this incredible woman. - Posted by: Allan Barry (Former colleague) on: Mar 20, 2025

To Diana and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Hélène McCarthy, amie - Posted by: Helene McCarthy (Amie) on: Aug 17, 2024
