It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and friend, Judy Reid on July 31, 2024.
Judy will be sadly missed by her children, Scott (Carolyn) and Brent (Marcie), and her grandchildren, Dana (Riley), Lindsay, Kellen (Justin), and Travis.
Judy was born on September 29, 1947, the second of four children to Carl and Rose Gill, and was raised in the West End neighborhood.
After graduating from Daniel McIntyre, Judy began her career with the federal government at the Department of Veteran Affairs. She continued her career with the federal government working for the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation for over 30 years.
While in school at the age of 14, mom met Vic after a hockey game at Orioles Community Club. Vic was truly the love of her life. Judy and Vic were married on November 12, 1965.
Judy loved camping. There are many great stories of family trips to Lake Bronson, the Black Hills, California, Banff and Colorado. Vic and Judy enjoyed their seasonal site at Spruce Sands as well as many trips to Las Vegas and visiting friends in Arizona.
Judy played many years in the Tuesday night Ladies Softball League with friends and also enjoyed ceramics, but she especially loved her yard. She had the green thumb of a gardener and her greatest joy in her yard in later years was her climbing rose bush.
Above all, Judy’s family was her pride and joy. She loved every moment at family gatherings and watching her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events and other activities.
We would like to express our gratitude to Judy’s best friend Erin Cosentino for all her kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, ALS Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba.
Funeral Service will be held for family and friends at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2024 at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 Desmeurons Street.
