Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Peter was by far favorite teacher. He and his wife Louise would always invite me for coffee or supper. I miss those days and times doesn't with them. I'll miss him and will never forget him! - Posted by: Roger Meilleur (Student/friend) on: Sep 14, 2024

  • Our deepest condolences to Louise and family. Peter was a great teacher and very knowledgeable in many sciences, mathematics and gardening. An example was when we talked about the number of flower petals in a flower during which he explained in detail terms the logic of petal numbers. He was very warm, respectful and generous: They shared, with us, their flower seeds and smoked fish that they caught. On many occasions we had supper at Peter’s and Louise’s. On one of these occasions they included morel mushrooms (a treasured wild mushroom) as part of the meal. I said to Peter, “This is like royal treatment!” He replied, “well!” Peter was a great and altruistic friend that will be very much missed! It was a great honor to have been his friend. • Sending sincerest condolences and love to Louise and family as Peter was great friend and coworker for many years at Peguis FN. Peter taught many children throughout the years in sending them on there way to college or university. He will be missed but never forgotten! - Posted by: Joan Hudson (Family Friend) on: Aug 20, 2024

  • My cousin Peter was my algebra and geometry teacher in Fisher Branch. He was very good at explaining the concepts and I really enjoyed those classes. I also remember him as a very good badminton player and can still visualize him in the Fisher Branch Collegiate gym playing a wicked game. I was also very impressed by his marksmanship when shooting a rifle, which I believe was helped a lot by his very good eyesight. Not a genetic trait that I share with him, alas! He was also an advocate for fairness when it came to the students and their rights in various situations at the school. I was very impressed by his gardening abilities, both with vegetables and flowers. He and his wife Louise had such a lovely yard. He shared important information about composting, as well. He often put on a gruff exterior but was a kind and gentle person. I was very fond of him and am saddened at his passing. - Posted by: Rosemary Hnatiuk (cousin) on: Aug 19, 2024

  • Mr. Obelnicki was my math and physics teacher during my high school years. He was a great teacher and mentor. I enjoyed going to class everyday having him as my teacher. Will always remember the curry meal party he had for his students. Sending the family caring thoughts. - Posted by: Wendy (Past student) on: Aug 17, 2024
