Lois Lake Kristjanson passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024.
She was predeceased by husband Kris Kristjanson; parents, Hugh and Ruth Hill; and sisters, Mary Hill and Jewel Davis.
She is survived by and will be missed by her children, Ruth, Helga, Ingrid (Chris Ragan), Stefan (Christine) Kristjanson; her grandchildren, Katie (Ben) and Hugh (Judith) Ragan, Signy, Johann (Jen), Bjorn, and Freyja Kristjanson and her great-grandchildren, Kiera and Jack Ragan and Ophelia and Charlotte Kristjanson.
She was born on July 1, 1924 in Luttrell, TN. She grew up in Knoxville, TN and enjoyed a ten-year career at the University of Tennessee. Meeting and marrying Gimli, MB born Kris led to a move to Canada.
Friends and family delighted in her southern mannerisms. She kept a touch of her Tennessee accent until the end.
She had many varied interests. She loved people, books, history, art, music, and embroidery. She was a gracious hostess, a storyteller and foremostly a good mother.
She was immensely proud of her children and their successes and maintained an interest in their activities. As grandchildren and then great-grandchildren came along that same pride and interest extended to them.
Happily, the family was able to recently celebrate her 100th birthday, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Door Geriatric Centre for the care and kindness they showed to our mother over the last two years.
Flowers are gratefully declined but a donation to a charity of your choice would be welcome.
