NICOLE BUXTON

Nicole Buxton, lovingly known as Nicky, peacefully passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of 82. Surrounded by her family, Nicky left this world as gently as she had lived, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion to her family, and unwavering strength.

Born on May 26, 1942, in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Nicky was the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Kathleen Gabie. She grew up with a spirit of warmth and kindness that she carried throughout her life. Nicky married the love of her life, Del Buxton, on August 14, 1959, and together they built a beautiful life.

Nicky was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her four children, Lori, Doug, Darren and Derek. Her family was her greatest joy. She dedicated herself to nurturing them with unconditional love and compassion. Nicky was especially proud to support her sons’ various sports. She cheered from the sidelines with enthusiasm, never missing a hockey or baseball game. She was happiest when hosting the many dinners that brought her family together.

Nicky’s generosity, kind words, and heartfelt hugs will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nicky was predeceased by her husband Del. She is survived by her daughter Lori (Tony); her sons, Doug, Darren (Darcie) and Derek (Sharie); her grandchildren, Lori (Rene), Carlie (Scott), Ashley (Tyler), Eric, Melissa (Chad) and McKenzie, and great-grandchildren, Landen, Mason, Braxton, Kole and Teegan. She is also mourned by her many neighbours and friends. To the children in her neighbourhood, she was known simply as Grandma Nicky.

Nicky and Del enjoyed their regular road trips to Vancouver (to visit Lori and Tony) and Florida with good friends Larry and Dorothy.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the caregivers on 5AB at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface.

A special heartfelt thank you to Bev Russell who provided exceptional support to Nicky. Her compassion and dedication brought immense comfort to Nicky and her loved ones.

A private family gathering will take place in the coming weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society (https://winnipeghumanesociety.ca).
