LORI DIANNE TORGERSON

(nee NEALE)

September 28, 1954 - August 5, 2024

Lori died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on August 5th at the age of 69.

She was born in Winnipeg and was predeceased by her mother, Joyce Neale. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Doug Torgerson; her children, Jenn (Dominic), Clayton (Lisa), Todd (Angela), Scott (Stacey), Kim (Kevin) and many grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her siblings, Allan (Janet), Gary, Linda (Gerald), Glenn (Gloria), Brent (Heather), and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her immediate family, Lori will be sadly missed by her life-long friend and kindred spirit, Linda Wilson, of Mill Bay, BC.

Lori and Doug have operated the Seine River Café in St. Boniface for the past 23 years. Lori was devoted to her customers and staff and was universally loved by them all for her warm personality, her beautiful smile, and her infectious sense of humour. She was the Winnipeg Jets’ biggest fan and never missed a game. She also loved the companionship of her pets over the years, especially her dogs, Oscar and Chopper, and most recently, her mischievous cat, Wesley. Most of all, Lori was committed to her family to whom she gave her unconditional and unwavering love and support throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.

The family will be forever grateful for the compassion, kindness, and care of Dr. F. Salem and the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Doug and all of his and Lori’s family’s. Lori would greet us with the biggest smile; good morning! ……two coffees, eggs Benny, fruit salad no bananas , no kiwi; skillet , extra onion, extra crispy , white toast. And then catch up with each other. - Posted by: Agi and Ron Fransoo (Sunday Regulars ) on: Sep 15, 2024

  • Dear Doug and family, I am so very sorry to have heard about your beautiful and very special wife - Lori. She truly was kind and always smiling and a caring person. Thinking of you with sadness and caring at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Lynn (Solylo) newlin (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2024

  • Dear Doug & Family and Neale Family: I was saddened to hear of cousin Lori’s passing. Her sense of humor, quick wit & infectious laugh will be greatly missed. Those traits remind me so much of Auntie Joyce, Uncle Les & my mom Bev. I’m quite certain the four of them - reunited forever - are sharing jokes right now. Take comfort in your memories. Laugh often - Lori would expect nothing less! Love, Jody (cousin) - Posted by: Jody Dubeck (Cousin) on: Aug 21, 2024

  • Junko, Saya, Haruki, and myself were heart-broken to hear of Lori's recent passing. We all got to know her (and husband Doug) well over the last 16 years as their next-door neighbors, and she was the best neighbor and family friend anyone could hope to have. We will miss Lori, her awesome sense of humor, her super friendly personality, and her positive outlook on life very, very much. Rest in peace Lori. All our Love, the Paterson Family. - Posted by: Darin, Junko, Saya, and Haruki Paterson (Neighbors and Friends) on: Aug 20, 2024
