RONALD KRISTJION JOHANNSON

September 25, 1943 – August 10, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Johannson. Ron leaves to mourn his children, Verne (Bonnie), Bruce and Christine (Kelly); his grandchildren, Ryder, Colton (Haley), Breeze (Alex), Sabryna, Madison (Glen) and Ashley (Brett); his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Braylon, Benjamin, and Callie; his siblings, Wally (Sandra), Lawrence (Carol), Barbara (Bernest) and Neil (Denise), brother-in-law Peter and sister-in-law Shirley (Gordon). Ron was predeceased by his loving wife Norma, his parents Gudrun and Thorkell, his sister Eleanor and sister-in-law Suzanne.

Ron was born in Arborg on September 25, 1943. Growing up he gained his strong work ethic helping on the family farm and in his dad’s garage. He was a gifted athlete who loved sports, especially hockey and baseball. Ron and Norma were married on December 24, 1963. Ron was just beginning his career with Manitoba Hydro, which brought the family to many communities throughout Manitoba. Wherever the job took them they were always involved in the community and always felt welcomed. During this time Ron achieved his dream of obtaining his pilot’s license and purchasing a plane. Ron and Norma eventually moved to Great Falls, Manitoba where they made many lifelong friends. They then purchased the family farm where they built their forever home. Ron was very proud of the fact that they built it themselves with the help of their family and friends. Ron started a second career with Abitibi Paper Mill where he worked until his retirement. Following retirement, Ron and Norma enjoyed many winters spent in Arizona, and later in Texas. Ron was very mechanically inclined and was always fixing farm machinery or inventing something to make the work more efficient. He loved farming, especially with his son Bruce.

Ultimately, Ron’s greatest love was his family. Nothing made him happier than when his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were home for a visit. He was proud of each and every one of them and they will all cherish their time spent with him.

“Dad your guiding hand on our shoulders will remain with us forever.”

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Pine Falls Ambulance, the Powerview RCMP and the Pine Falls hospital. A graveside service will be held at the Arborg Community Cemetery on September 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.
