ELVIRA BALSKE

On August 18, 2024 Elvira Balske (nee Daniels) passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre. Elvira was a loving wife, mother, Oma and great Oma.

Elvira (Ellie) was born in 1936 in Halbstad, Russia and emigrated to Canada in 1948 with her mother (Louisa), her aunt (Helen), her brother (Rudy) and cousin (Victor). In 1957 she met Manfred (Mel) Balske in Winnipeg and they were wed in 1959. Ellie and Mel had three children, Harold, Edward (Lynn) and Deborah (Keith). Ellie loved being with her seven grandchildren Colton, Brenden, Michaela, Carson, Meghan, Sarah and Eric and her six great-grandchildren.

Elvira enjoyed cooking and baking, and every family member would relish receiving a beautiful plate of ‘goodies’ at Christmas.

With her husband Mel, Ellie also enjoyed renovating the homes they owned over the years and especially cherished their lake house at Clearwater Bay, Ontario.

As per Elvira’s request, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, we welcome you to make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba in memory of Elvira.
