It is with a heavenly heart that we announce that Bill Hunter passed away peacefully while his wife (Fran) sang to him on Friday August 16, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
Bill became a member of the Masons in 1980. This began a fraternal career of over 25 years which also included Scottish Rite, the Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Bill treated everyone as if they were family. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his children, grand children and great-grand children and boy did he love to dance. You couldn’t get him off the dance floor.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Frances (Legere) Hunter of 59 years; his 3 children Josephine (Ed) Yewchyn; Thomas (Kristen) Hunter and Karen (Mario) Bento; 3 grand children; 6 great-grand children and many nieces and nephews and weekend children/grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life will be held at the Masonic Memorial Centre, 420 Corydon at Osborne on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
No flowers please. You may wish to plant a tree or make a donation to Lighthouse Mission, 699 Main Street, Winnipeg, R3B 1E3.

At this moment, I believe that Bill is trading fishing stories (and they will be tall tales) with his buddy Gus who went on ahead nine years ago to find the best pond. Bill was our dear friend, probably Gus’s best friend. We loved spending time with him and with Fran at the Lake or our home, playing cards and generally enjoying our time between work days, together. And fishing! Bill always had the biggest lure and didn’t care what he caught. Bill loved Fran and his family with all his heart and soul. He will be remembered well. Especially by me. There is a catch in my heart, knowing he has passed. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Laura McComb (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2024

My deepest sympathy goes out to Fran and the family. Bill was a wonderful man who lived to share the stories of his life adventures. He was always there to help in any way he could. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I will think of him with fond memories. - Posted by: Andrea Mauws (Former Eastern Star member ) on: Aug 24, 2024

Condolences to the family. Frances and I have known each other since our school days and I remember her during that time telling us about her trips to Springhill. Bill was her first and only love and has lasted throughout the years. Thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. Cherish all the memories. - Posted by: DONNA THOMPSON (friends) on: Aug 24, 2024
