Date of Passing: Aug 20, 2024
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDE WILFRED LAMBKIN
Peacefully, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Health Sciences Centre, Claude passed away at the age of 80, two days short of his 81st birthday, with his devoted wife, Elaine and his family by his side.
Claude was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Wilf Lambkin. He is survived by his wife Elaine of 59 years; son Jeff (Joanne); daughter Kelly Moon (Steve); and his grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, Katie, Delia, Max and Cole.
Claude spent his entire 30-year career with Manitoba Telephone System before retiring in 1996.
In the early days, Claude enjoyed camping at Blue Lake with the family, downhill skiing in Big Sky, Montana for over 30 years, golfing with his buddies, and travelling to Hawaii, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and San Francisco. He also enjoyed building his model railroad in the basement (taking up too much space according to Elaine).
Claude was very proud of Jeff and Kelly and his grandchildren, always there cheering them on with their sports. He was also very proud of teaching both Jeff and Kelly how to drive, especially when they both passed their tests on the first try. He was also a dedicated Blue Bomber and Jets fan.
When the grandchildren were little, Claude initiated “Grandparents’ Day” every Monday until the last grandchild started school full time. Those were fun days with Grandpa doctoring up Kraft Dinner with pepperoni, making popcorn in a frying pan and taking trips to Assiniboine Park to ride the little train and climb trees before a picnic lunch.
As per Claude’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial service.
Sincere thanks to Claude’s Home Care workers, Dr. Edward and Dr. Jowett at Charleswood Medical Clinic, and the staff at HSC Emergency, Neurology, Neurosurgery and SICU.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may forward a donation in his name to Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3R 0G6.

Claude probably didn’t know of my existence: I was a few years younger than he was; I thought of him as a good Charleswood guy. He and my late brother, Glen, would have known each other because of their interest in old cars. Claude and I worked together briefly at the Safeway store at Lanark and Corydon. I wish to express my sincere condolences to Claude’s family and friends. He made the world a better place. R.I.P. - Posted by: Bill Stevens (Distant friend) on: Aug 24, 2024
