DOLPHUS JOHN NOBISS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dolph (Fuzzy), on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Dolph is survived by his three children, Neil (Linda) Nobiss, Gerald Nobiss, Carrie Ann (Graeme) Smith, as well his grandchildren, Tyler (Katie), Alyssa (Joey), Karly (Tyler), Joshua, Meagan (Dustin), Chelsea, Cassidy (Danny), Jessalynn, Serena (Shawn), Braeden (Payge) and Natalie. He will be lovingly remembered by his 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen, Shirley, Ruth Ann, Caroline, Diana and their spouses.
He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Nobiss (nee White). He is also predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Ann, his siblings, Evelyn, Lawrence and Gwen.
Dad was born and raised in Stonewall, MB. He moved to Winnipeg in 1952, where he picked up various employment until he began work at Federated Co-op in 1960. Soon after, he purchased their home in Weston, where he and Mom raised their family while making lifelong friendships as they became involved members of the community and St. Thomas Anglican Church.
Dad enjoyed sports his whole life, but hockey was his passion. He began playing in his youth and later found himself coaching teams in Weston and ended playing in Old-timer hockey until the age of 80.
He was also deeply passionate about nature and country living. He found peace and tranquility at their cottage in Lac du Bonnet. Family and friends were always welcomed to enjoy fishing, sunsets on the river, bonfires and stargazing. Many fond times were had by all, making memories, surrounded by love and laughter.
Dad and Mom later moved to Ste. Anne, MB to Paradise Village to enjoy the serenity while still being able to enjoy some more travelling.
He will always be remembered for his strength, wisdom and pride in how he carried himself through his life.
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare aides that showed us such kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Anglican Church, at 1567 William Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dolphus may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
