EUGENE PATRICK
Eugene passed away peacefully at home on August 21 at the age of 75.
Eugene was born in Sarto, Manitoba on the family farm. As a boy he attended Willow Plains school in Sarto.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Emilie and Michael Patrick, brothers, Joe, Roman, Tarus, Leonard and sisters-in-law, Kay and Sally.
Eugene is survived by his wife and best friend Ardine, brother Walter (Natalie) Patrick and in-laws, Joan Patrick, Janine (Marty) Harasymchuk, Marlene (Gerry) Curll as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
As a young man Eugene spent a brief period of time employed at the Barkman Concrete plant in Steinbach. Then in 1970 he was hired by Borland Construction Ltd. in Winnipeg as a heavy equipment operator. In time he became well known in the industry for his precise eye as a blue-top grader operator.
After a 45-year career at Borland Eugene retired in 2015.
Eugene and Ardine enjoyed many wonderful times with family and friends over the years. They also loved travelling. Whether it be to Hecla, Gimli or Kenora/Sioux Narrows in the summer or the Caribbean and Mexico in the winter. Their favourite holidays were in the Hawaiian Islands and after many years together Hawaii is where they wed in 2012 with a sunset wedding on the beach.
Everyone who knew Eugene would say he could be described with three simple, powerful words that are so true: QUIET-GENTLE-KIND.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre at 3030 Notre Dame Ave. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
