Irene Therese Marie Landreville (nee Vielfaure) passed away Monday, August 26 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg.
Irene was born in Somerset, Manitoba on October 11, 1925, the sixth of nine children.
She is survived by six of her ten children, Rene (Gisele), Terry (Harold), Paul (Julie), Gerry (Greg), Diane and Norman (Mindy). She was predeceased by her husband Prosper and four of her children, Lorraine (Albert), Donald (Flora), infant Edward and Simone (Jack). In addition, she also leaves behind her sister Lorraine Penner, her sister-in-law Terry Vielfaure, nine grandchildren, Lynn, Shelley, Greg, Christine, John, Kevin, Steven, Dana and Sara and eight great-grandchildren, Peyton, Danica, Cole, Mia, Nathan, Lyla, Brooks and Harper.
Irene’s life was replete with love of family, friends, faith and at times adventure. Irene was truly a sociable and generous person, making friends easily wherever she may be. These friends include many at Villa Cabrini who were like a second family to Irene over the years she lived there. She was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic church. In retirement, Irene was also an avid traveller joining her children on adventures across Canada, Europe and even Africa.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 5, 2024 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
After the mass, please join the family in the church hall to both celebrate the life of Irene and mourn her passing. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. She may not now be here, but she will always be in our hearts and prayers. We’ll miss you Mom!

Irene was an inspiration to me with her positive attitude and encouraging ways. My favourite memory of her was the summer she won the Villa Cabrini shuffleboard tournament held at the Army & Navy next door. She was a load of fun and a fierce competitor. Irene will be fondly remembered and will be missed around here. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Mary Wheeler (Neighbour) on: Sep 02, 2024

I was a neighbour to Irene quite some time ago...she was a very soft spoken and gentle soul...had a calmness about her....a real gem...... I believe it was last winter my husband and I saw her in St. Vital in the food court sitting and having a muffin and we recognized each other immediately so we sat together and had a nice conversation...It had been many years we had not seen each other as we moved away. When we were in the food court I did get her phone number but sad to say I lost or misplaced it...and was not able to make contact with her....sometimes you just get one chance....My condolences to all of the family....... - Posted by: Cheryl Cottrell (Next door neighbour) on: Sep 02, 2024

My deepest sympathies to the whole family and everyone who loved Irene. My longtime friendship with the Gofflot family meant I was lucky enough to fondly call her grandma. I will always remember our visits together in Calgary, Parksville, & Winnipeg. Irene was always full of life, she could keep up with people half her age, and she was always ready to share a laugh. She will be missed and always remembered. XO - Posted by: Fena Maucieri (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2024

If only Irene had been able to start with our program a few years ago! We only knew her a short time, but fell in love with her right away. We have already missed her friendly nature, beautiful smile, and lively spirit. Much peace to her family. - Posted by: Christine Schroeder Hubert (Friend through LPADC) on: Aug 31, 2024
