Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST WALTER (PHILIP) COE
Peacefully, and with family by his side, Phil passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Phil is survived by his dear partner Beverley Cooke; his children, Patrik (Kathy), Christopher, and Robyn (Jeff); his beloved grandchildren, Roan, Fenn, and Elis; sisters, Sharon, Barbara (Allan), and Laurel (Lyle), and their families; and his loyal sidekicks and best friends, Garry and Lynne Steiner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil Sr. and Frances Coe; his in-laws, William and Mary Skwarchuk; and his wife of 43 years, Sonja (Skwarchuk) Coe.
Phil was always an active and engaged member of every community he found himself in: the Royal Canadian Army, his treasured collective of HVAC pals, various Oakbank boards and teams, Boeing, the Oakbank Beautification Committee, and Transcona Legion. He cherished all of the connections he’s made over the years and loved recounting stories of his antics in each - oh, were there antics! In recent years, Phil enjoyed the simple pleasures with Bev, family, and friends: playing cards, going to movies and concerts, road trips, camping in the Boler, and watching every and all sporting activity his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Phil’s personality brought warmth and joy to everyone he encountered and his memory will remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Phil’s legacy of kindheartedness, generosity, quiet spirit, and quick wit will live on for generations through his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of Phil’s wonderfully full life will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cooks Creek Community Centre, 30026 Zora Road.
