Born on January 15, 1945, in Winnipeg, Bill graduated from Kelvin High School and went on to complete a certificate in mechanical engineering at the Manitoba Institute of Technology. This led him to a job at Standard Aero, and then a position at the Duck Mountain School Division. He then started with the Government of Manitoba as the Property Maintenance Supervisor in 1974 and was there for 30 years. He retired as Director, Physical Plant for all of Manitoba.
Upon retiring, he and Jan spent some time traveling, often as volunteers for Habitat for Humanity Cycle of Hope. They also made many trips to see their grandkids. He loved to work in his garage at their home in Brunkild, Manitoba. He had a deep love for classic cars, war planes and history.
Those who knew Bill, knew that he filled the room with his dry sense of humor and loved nothing more than being with his family and friends.
