Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) KENNETH DALE
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jim at the age of 81. He died peacefully, with his family by his side.
He is lovingly remembered by Joan, his wife of 56 years, sons, Christopher (Erin), Andrew (Jean); grandchildren, Jackson, William, Jacob, and Samuel; and sister Judy Anderson (Terry). He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Winnifred Dale, parents-in-law, Adelard and Irene Delisle; and his brother-in-law, Don Delisle.
Jim was born and resided in Winnipeg all his life. In 1960, he graduated from Gordon Bell High School. Soon after, he went to work for the Province of Manitoba, in the Department of Health, where he began a long and prestigious career, retiring after 38 years.
One of Jim’s passions was the family cottage he and his father-in-law built. He also loved the game of Bridge, at which he was very close to becoming a Master. Jim was an avid curler starting out as a junior at the Thistle Curling Club, and later curling out of the Assiniboine Curling Club. He was very proud of his 8-Ender he and his teammates won.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue at 12:30 p.m.
Many thanks to the wonderful, caring staff of 1A, at the Riverview Health Centre, for the care provided Jim over the past five years. Also, a big thank you to C.A. Chris Salstrom, for her special guidance, prayers and loving friendship during Jim’s last weeks.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Riverview Health Centre or a charity of your choice.

Jim was a friend, boss, co-worker, teammate and mentor at MHSC/Manitoba Health and was the primary architect of the early health computer systems, many of which are still in use to this day. I don't think that Jim had formal computer science training, but he had one of the brightest minds that ever worked at MHSC, and he was a generous mentor to many of us that followed. Jim was always game for weekly Chuggers baseball, curling and even showed us kids a thing or two for a few years at noon hour hockey. Jim had much to do with MHSC being a special place to be in the 80s and 90s and he is remembered by many as a terrific guy. When Health moved from Empress to Carlton, just before the new century, I took the oak desk tops from Jim and manager Harry's desks and converted them to a boardroom table in our new location, much to the consternation of the furniture police. The Jim/Harry boardroon table survives as a tribute to a couple of the founders of the information systems branch. Rest in peace A44AJKD. - Posted by: Cliff Greenhalgh (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2024

Joan, Chris, Andy and family, We are all very sorry to hear about your loss. Jim (Mr.Dale) was a second Dad to me growing up at the lake or with sports in the city. A very handy guy who willingly gave of his time to take on many construction projects. We will always cherish all he did for us, his friendship and laughs along the way. I know the last several years were tough, however, many great legacy stories and moments to cherish just the same. Chris and Andy, I am quite certain that your Dad is smiling and at peace knowing how you turned out as Sons, husbands and fathers. Rest in peace "Mr. Dale".
