ERIC GEORGE WITTENBERG

January 11, 1954 - August 28, 2024

It is with profound sadness our family announces the sudden passing of Eric, our rock and main man.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 33 years, Glennis, son Jayden, daughter Kendall (Dylan) and grandson Pierce, extended family, countless friends and business associates.

Eric was a devoted husband and exceptional father, always making time for his family and friends. If you needed a coach or manager, Eric was your man. If you needed fundraising to support a cause, Eric was your contact. If you needed a favour, he was always just a call away. Eric had a heart of gold and was always in tune with people’s needs. He was always willing to assist in any manner possible, donating his time, his repertoire of different talents or financial support.

He proudly owned and operated Alliance Investments Manitoba Ltd. and until July 2021, Royal LePage Alliance Real Estate Brokerage. Eric’s vast knowledge in property management and real estate is surpassed by very few. He loved mentoring his real estate agents and watching them grow and succeed. He was always proud of his company’s accomplishments but never forgetting, he would say …“When the agents succeed, the company succeeds”.

Eric was an uber talented guy. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an accomplished toast master, downhill skier, deep sea diver, magician, paintball player, pool player, golfer and gamer. In his younger years he had his pilot’s license and owned his own small aircraft. Eric never did anything halfway but instead was always full steam ahead to ensure he excelled at what he was doing. His accomplishments were many and we were always very proud of him.

He loved golfing at St. Charles Country Club and getting away from the wintry weather to golf in Arizona, always enjoying dinner and drinks on the patio after a game. Eric entertained many friends and guests, and always loved telling humourous stories while relaxing with a good scotch and a cigar.

Although Eric is gone, he left his mark on this world and many memories in our hearts. We will forever miss him.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so wish a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of choice.

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Dear Wittenberg family, I had great respect for this man. As a humble painting business he always talked with me with a mentors heart. Sorry for you loss and great thankfulness for what you were given. God Bless You. Special thanks, Tim Moore - Posted by: Tim Moore (Painter) on: Mar 25, 2025

  • Over my years working with Eric I can't articulate well enough how decent he was in all of his dealings and his devotion to have a real estate office where his associates had the opportunity to flourish because of his strong ethical beliefs and genuine care. I am grateful to have known Eric and to have collaborated with him at times during his real estate journey at Royal LePage. - Posted by: Rolf Hitzer (Business Associate) on: Sep 10, 2024

  • Eric had a way of bringing out the very best in everyone and treated all his agents like family. I’ll never forget that he had the most modest office in the entire building he owned, always putting others first. He will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Dan Benger (Realtor) on: Sep 09, 2024

  • Dear Wittenberg Family, I was deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time. I had the privilege of working with Eric and always admired his kindness, dedication, and positive spirit to our profession. His presence will be greatly missed by all of us in the real estate industry. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you strength and peace in the days ahead. With deepest sympathy, - Posted by: John Rodrigues (Co-worker) on: Sep 09, 2024

  • I knew Eric during the phase in his life when sleight of hand and magic was his passion. He was determined to become a master of the pasteboards (Cards) and he did. This is no small feat, you need a mind of a mathematician and the hands of a surgeon and Eric had both. His generosity to other performers was epic and he will be greatly missed by the magic community. Steve Chmara - Posted by: Steve Chmara (Fellow magician) on: Sep 08, 2024

  • Our hearts and prayers go out to you Glennis and all your family. We were so heartbroken to hear of Eric's passing. He was such a prince of a man and will be sadly missed. Hoping the memories you have of him will bring you comfort. Sending our deepest sympathy and love. - Posted by: Lori and Tim Chimuk (Friend) on: Sep 07, 2024

  • With sincere sympathy to the Wittenberg family. I hadn't seen Eric for several years, but I definitely have many fond memories of him. He stayed with us in River Hills for few days, and left many good memories. Saw Eric few times in Winnipeg over the years. He certainly had a VERY interesting/exciting life! May memories of Eric help you through this difficult time. Can't attend service, I live in Canmore now. Edith Wittenberg - Posted by: Edith Wittenberg (cousin ) on: Sep 07, 2024

  • Our family has a big hole in their heart with Eric's passing. If you look in the dictionary for the definition of best friend Eric's name is first up. Can't tell you the laughs, missed puts, tricks we played on each other all the time with Eric smiling that silly little smile and saying, gottcha Sobes. So miss you. Our Condolences go out to Glennis and family from all the Sobering family. But God needed someone to organize heaven so called the best. - Posted by: Don & Joyce Sobering (freind of the Family) on: Sep 07, 2024
