It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on September 4, 2024, at the age of 90.
Florent is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Berthe (née Boisjoli) and by his children, Daniel (Chantale), Joanne (Marc) Laroche, Claude and Lynne (Daniel) Hrynchuk, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one coming great-grandchild, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son Louis, his mother Madeleine (née Barras), his father William (Willie), his sister Irène Legal and his brother-in-law Lucien Legal.
Florent was born and raised in Ste. Genevieve, Manitoba. He spent his early years farming on the family farm. In 1965, he moved to Winnipeg and started his career as a woodworker. Florent was very talented and creative. He handcrafted countless pieces of furniture that many of us still cherish in our homes. Florent also shared his passion for music, playing pieces on his violin, organ and keyboard. Florent was very proud of his family and their accomplishments.
The family would like to extend a word of gratitude to the doctors and nurses of St. Boniface Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be held on September 20, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale. Eulogy will precede the funeral mass at 1:10 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
