UVE LOLEIT
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Uve Loleit on August 19, 2024. Uve was born in Oldenburg, Germany on December 22, 1948. Around the age of three, Uve and his mother moved to Canada.
After graduating from high school in Powerview-Pine Falls, Manitoba, Uve left home and moved to Winnipeg completing a business administration diploma program.
One of Uve's first jobs was as a Women's Apparels salesperson and supplier to local Winnipeg businesses. After Uve got married, he was manager of a multi-unit apartment complex.
Uve later started at Miller Hatcheries, based in Winnipeg starting his long career in the Manitoba Poultry industry. Uve was soon hired at Granny's Poultry Co-op Hatchery on Roseberry Street in Winnipeg. When Granny’s Poultry built a new hatchery on Scurfield Boulevard, Uve was the hatchery foreman.
Uve was so dedicated to his job that the competing Manitoba hatcheries referred to him as the "Hatcheryman who sleeps at the Hatchery" always caring for the well-being of the baby chicks.
In the mid-1990s Uve was promoted to Hatchery Manager.
During his 24/7 days with a hectic busy life as the Hatchery Manager Uve always had ample time for the love of his life, Judy Lynn; listening and talking to her and spending all his non-work hours with Judy; planning and going on trips across the country. Hiking in the Rocky Mountains near Banff was their own special space. To Judy, Uve was her energetic and bouncy "Tigger".
Sadly, at the height of their wedded bliss, Judy was diagnosed with Lupus autoimmune disease and passed on August 7, 2003. Heartbroken, Uve dedicated himself to his work even more than before.
Uve researched, designed and undertook the building of Manitoba's largest and most state-of-the-art hatchery in Transcona. In the early 2000s Uve was ahead of his time by incorporating "Green" geothermal energy for heating and cooling the new facility.
After retirement Uve spent a lot of time walking (20km/day) exercising and spending time with friends who knew and loved him dearly. Uve was a kindhearted and generous person.
Uve was predeceased by his mother Meta, father Henry, brother Heinz and his loving wife, Judy. He will be missed by his brother Henry, sister Lucy (Gerry) Thomas and numerous friends.
Special thanks to the Health Sciences Centre staff on GD-6, especially to Nurse Laine Senga and Dr. Marcus Blouw for their care, compassion and honesty during and after Uve’s short stay.
A gathering of remembrance will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
One of Uve's closest and dearest friends summed it up best by saying: Goodbye my friend, sweet dreams always!
Watch over me! Love you forever, you are out of your pain and you are now with your love, Judy Lynn.
Thank you for letting me into your heart, Always. Forever in my heart.
