Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARK ANTHONY WATSON
Sadly, on September 8, 2024, we experienced the passing of our dear brother Mark.
Mark was predeceased by his father Thomas in 1980 and his mother Verna (Jones/Bischoff) in 2023.
His memory will be forever cherished by his brothers, Daniel and Michael; our favourite Aunt Barbara Fay and her children, Cameron, Tannis (Jordan) and Todd; Loreen Patterson (Rob); cousins, Norah, Patti, Mike, Tom, and the Wiebe family all of BC; the Thiessen family; cousin Shannon Wynands.
Our brother devoted his life to one of service to others. He was a dedicated servant of Mother Theresa and the Sisters of Charity for over 40 years. Mark was a devoted son having spent the last few years looking after our beloved mother. During her final years having Mark care for her allowed her to stay in her home until her passing. Mark tended to Father Svoboda needs until his passing in 2010.
Our Aunt Catherine Watson greatly influenced Mark by instilling the love and desire to be a volunteer and devote himself to the work of the Lord. He also worked alongside Father Rheal Forrest for many years. In his working years Mark worked for the Winnipeg School Board, MTS and the Province of Manitoba.
Mark will forever be remembered for wry sense of humour and wisdom that he imparted in his time here on earth.
Mark’s faith made him humble, his faith actions made him helpful and his deep faith made him hopeful for his heavenly reward.
Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue with Father Dominic officiating. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
Many thanks to the Sisters of Charity, Helen, Yvan, Gladys, Mitch, Pierre, Antoinette, Rose, Emily and all the many volunteers who worked alongside Mark in his journey.
Donations may made to the Sisters of Charity, L’Arche Winnipeg, Chalice in Bedford, Nova Scotia or Mary’s Meals.
Flowers for St. Anthony’s Church would be appreciated.

Mark & I grew up two doors away from each other on Leila Avenue. I always remember Mark as being a quiet, gentle person with a big smile. As my parents became older, Mark frequently looked in on them to help with whatever could and cutting the grass. I live an hour away so I appreciated him very much. When his mother was sick and couldn't bake her famous brownies anymore, Mark took on the task, with pleasure. He always had a tray for me when I came to visit. I will miss our conversations and reminiscing of the good old days. Rest in peace my dear friend. My condolences to Danny, Michael and extended family. - Posted by: Helga Halischuk (Childhood friend) on: Sep 23, 2024
