IRENE ZAJIC

Peacefully on September 16, 2024, Irene Zajic passed away in her 85th year.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas, her parents, Anton and Dora Mostoway and brothers, Terry (Taras) and Ozzie (Ostop).

She is survived by daughter Susan (David) Benfold, son Bradley Zajic, step-granddaughter Jessica (Stuart) and great-grandson Max Margetts, brother Russell and sister Marie. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Irene was born on July 4, 1939, on a farm near Roblin, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg in the 1950s to finish high school where she lived with her cousin Tony Mostoway and his family. She met Nick in Winnipeg through her brother Terry. Irene and Nick were married on July 13, 1963. Irene quit her job as a secretary and started a family. She returned to work in the 1970s working at the post office at Shoppers Drug Mart in Garden City. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, cooking and golf. She also took up crocheting in her later years. She will be missed by her friends and family.

The family wish to thank that staff at the Poseidon Care Centre as well as the staff at the Seine River Retirement Residence for the care and compassion shown to our Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Arrangements are currently pending.

Rest in Peace
