LISA KAREN MITCHELL

(nee FIGENSHAW)

June 4, 1970 – September 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa on Sunday September 22, 2024, at the age of 54, supported by her loving husband Russ, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Trenton Ontario on June 4, 1970, to her late and loving parents, Helga and Harry Figenshaw, Lisa was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.

Lisa graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a degree in Economics. In 1993 Lisa began a 25 year career with the CIBC, where she advanced from Teller to General Manager at several branches of the bank, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and clients alike. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life, including volunteer work with the Brandon Humane Society and as an active member of the planning committee for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Lisa’s passions included gardening, traveling, birdwatching, and spending time outside with her beloved dog Nova. She cherished the beauty of nature and shared her love of the great outdoors with family and friends. Her indomitable spirit was evident throughout her illness, continuing to enjoy life in many ways, as was chronicled in her blog "Lisa is busy living."

She will be deeply missed by her husband Russell Mitchell; her siblings, David Figenshaw (Nancy), Linda Figenshaw and Robin Sykes; all her nieces and nephews; her in-laws, Ray and Kathy Mitchell and her many friends and coworkers.

Appreciation to all who supported Lisa during her battle at the Western Manitoba Cancer Center, and The Brandon Regional Health Center.

A Celebration of Lisa’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa's memory may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6 or the BRHC Foundation – Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
