BARBARA DIANE

CANADA-MORGAN

May 15, 1958 - September 23, 2024

Barbara Diane, beloved wife of Doug Morgan, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 surrounded by the love of her life, Doug and close family.

Barb was born May 15, 1958 to Peter and Dorothy Koversky, formerly of Boissevain, Manitoba. She attended school in Boissevain and it was here that she met and married her first husband, Gary Canada. They had two children, Lisa and Chad.

In the summer of 1992, Barb married the love of her life, Doug. Doug’s children, Lisa and Jeffrey from his previous marriage, completed their family. Over the years, their family grew to include four kids, eleven grandkids and six great-grandkids!

Barb worked various jobs over the years as she had the extraordinary ability to perform any job that she set her mind to. These jobs reflected her service toward others and it gave her great pleasure to give back to her community. She worked as an Optometric Assistant, Educational Assistant, Daycare Assistant, Dietary Aide and also in retail. Her love and compassion for people and animals was demonstrated through her work with special needs children and adults, as well as her volunteer work at a pre-school and animal shelter.

Barb spent her retirement years between her home at Oak Lake Beach and Drayton Valley. She enjoyed making cards and blankets for loved ones. She enjoyed aqua classes, hiking and walking with her dogs, Jack, Cash and Miss Mollie. Barb greatly enjoyed watching movies with her husband Doug, going on vacations to Cuba, and breakfast and coffee dates with her friends. She cherished her Friday night Fam-Jams in Virden with her mother-in-law and in-laws, as well as the many special family celebrations with her sister Michelle and her family. Her biggest joy was watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and creating beautiful memories that will last them a life time.

Over the years, Barb had dealt with many health issues, and in December of 2023 spent thirty-nine days in Brandon Hospital. The next months were filled with doctor appointments and medical tests. Finally, September 4, 2024 an official diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) was received. Barb was admitted to Virden Hospital September 9, 2024 where she remained until her passing.

Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory are her husband and best friend, Doug; children: Lisa and Andre Fournier, Lisa (Morgan) and Baird Murray, Chad Canada, Jeff and Holly Morgan; Grandchildren: Chanelle, Brooklynn and Beau, Sheena, Curtis and Zachery, Anthony, Xander and Cohen, Aiden and Beckett; great-grandchildren: Ruby-Jo, Jemar, Jasper, Jet, Jewelisa, and Avery; sisters: Brenda MacDonald, Marlene MacFadzean and Greg Uthe, Michelle and Darin McWilliams; in-laws: Donna and Jim Torry, Gwenda and Glenn Hayward, Bev and Mark Mitchell. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Barb was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Dorothy Koversky, father and mother in-law Harold and Leona Morgan, sister-in-law Wanda Gardner Coleman, brother-in-law Ron Gardner, niece Jennifer Mitchell, and her beloved dogs Jack and Cash.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, 540-8th Avenue South, Virden, Manitoba on Wednesday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb’s honour to: Cause for Critters Animal Rescue Society, 5517-53rd Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta, T0E 1Z0, phone (780) 898-7297, or to a charity of your choice.
