Peacefully, on September 26, 2024 at the Gimli Betel Home, Edward Petrowski,, aged 97 years passed away.
Edward was born on November 5, 1926 in Poland and came to Canada when he was 3 years old. He lived all his life in Gimli. He is one of eight siblings, four brothers and three sisters. He had a grade seven education and worked for the government for 35 years, starting by chopping and clearing land where the airport stands today. Edward got on as a fireman to keep the boilers always burning as this heat warmed the buildings.
He met Rose Yourchenko in 1958 while in a wedding party. They married one year later, on September 5, 1960. He was a father to two sons and two daughters: Edward Jr. (Cyndy), Brent (Patty), Kimberley (Ken) and Melissa (Jeff). Ed had three grandchildren, Anita, Darren, and Christina, seven great-grandchildren: Landon, Mason, Emmerson, Bria, Ruby, Oaklyn and Wren.
All his special friends are all gone.
He was very proud of being a farmer and an avid gardener. His hobby was reading until his eyesight gave out. He enjoyed transplanting and watering his flowers and garden. Loved eating Chinese food, it was his favourite. His favourite music was western.
Predeceased by his parents, two brothers, John and Edwin; and two sisters, Donna and Emily.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
