It is our deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria Tan (née Coronia) on September 24, 2024, at the age of 78.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind Rodolfo (Rod), her loving husband of 54 years; her sons, Julius (Tanya), Jayson (Jane) and two daughters Jillian (TJ) and Jamie (Khuong). Her Grandchildren Tyler (Mikey), Rhaychelle (Abriel) and Luna. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Odeng, Ernesto, Mercy, Sonia, Rene, Tess, Beatrice and Lorna.
Gloria was born in the heart of Manila, Philippines on October 28 , 1945. In 1970, she married her beloved husband, Rodolfo Tan, and together they welcomed two children Julius and Jayson. In 1975, seeking new opportunities for their family, Gloria and Rodolfo made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada where they later welcomed their twin daughters Jillian and Jaimelyn. Gloria dedicated her professional life to caring for others, serving as a healthcare aide at Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home for many years. Her exceptional compassion and tireless dedication provided comfort to countless residents and their families. Colleagues and patients admired her for her ability to bring joy and warmth into every interaction.
Gloria was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother, also known by relatives as “Oying”. In between her many bus trips to the casino, she enjoyed her time baking her famous egg tarts, upside down cake and cheesecake. She loved singing and watching her favorite Filipino TV shows on TFC. Creating forever lasting memories filled with laughter and happiness with her children and grandchildren. Staying up late nights, playing tongits with family and hopefully getting the big win. She was known for her kindness, exceptional cooking, love of flowers, especially orchids and the ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her love, warmth and generosity touched lives of many, and leaving behind a legacy of compassion and strength.
