He was “Albert” for nearly 93 years, “Dad” for 60 give or take a few, “Grandpa” for 34 and “Great-Grandpa” for as many as 15.
He was also “Hubba” and his meritorious service to Brandon’s 10-pin bowling community was recognized by induction into the Manitoba 10-pin Bowling Hall of Fame inductee in 2012.
Albert, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Hubba found his rest in peace on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, after a stay in the Assiniboine Centre.
He is survived by children, Gordon, Jeffrey (Donna), Kevin (Angela) and Dawn (Chris); grandchildren, Lisa (Mitch), David, Peter (Annie), Trent (Kirby) and Kendra (Hunter); great-grandchildren, Colton, Keegan, Kamryn, Dominic, Cleo and Rosie and brothers, Jim and Arnold.
In death he reunites with Georgina, his bride for nearly 53 years; parents Thomas and Flossie Holder and siblings Irene, Bob, Jenny, Doug, Tom, Lyall, Alice, Margaret, Norman, Alex and Walter.
A private graveside ceremony will take place. All are welcome to a Come and Go Celebration at T-Birds Food Fun Games, 2140 Currie Blvd., Brandon, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
His family expresses everlasting appreciation to the Assiniboine Centre staffers who provided Albert’s palliative care, including Dr. T.J., Lucia, Erin, Cindy, Angie, Devon and so many others.
Donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave E. Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5 or any community organization serving seniors.
