ALLAN GRANT HUTCHINSON

(HUTCH)

August 31, 1933 - October 6, 2024

Sadly and unexpectedly, Al Hutchinson passed away after a fall during a hospital stay on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the age of 91.

He is loved and memories of him will be cherished by his wife of 70 years, Verna. He is also loved and will never be forgotten by sons, Scott and Grant; daughter Karen; and her husband Jeff Light.

Al’s first love was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins have countless wonderful memories of their years with him.

Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private gathering to honour the life of our beloved “Hutch”.

The family expresses gratitude to Ethical Death Care for their touching photo-biography video honouring Al’s life, accessible through the 'tributes' link at the bottom of this obituary.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • The Grey Owl just held its 62nd annual tournament earlier this year. It was started in 1961 with the intention of making it not just a golf tournament, but an event, one where the participants looked forward to the next chance to get together. Hutch definitely embodied that message with his passion for the tournament, and specifically for his many years as a member of the Board of Directors who managed the tournament. Al was also awarded what is now known as the Robert J. Picken Honour Award in 1988 for his commitment to the tournament. The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Al for his long-time dedication to the tournament. We would also like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Hutchinson family. The Grey Owl Golf Committee - Posted by: The Grey Owl Golf Committee (Past Director) on: Oct 15, 2024

  • Condolences to Al's family. It was a pleasure working and playing golf with Al over the many years while we were both directors on the Grey Owl Golf Tournament committee. Al was the long time Starter voice of the 1st tee. He has been missed. John Nordien. - Posted by: John Nordien (Fellow Director of The Grey Owl Golf Tournament Committee) on: Oct 12, 2024
