PAUL FRANCIS CAREY

September 21, 1931 – October 9, 2024

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather, Paul Francis Carey in the early hours of October 9, 2024. Paul is now with his sweetheart Lorraine in heavenly glory.

Paul was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his parents James and Julia Carey, his brothers Fred and Patrick Carey and sister Esther Couture. Left to mourn him is his sister Sheila Wolfe.

His children, Chris (Dallas), Leslie (Gary), Lee-Anne (Alan), and Paul Jr. will miss him dearly, as will his beloved grandchildren, Julianne (Daniel), Madeline (Max), Abbie, Devin and Jenny and his most precious great granddaughter, Noa Lorraine. Paul will also be missed by his sister in law Christine (Jeff) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was born in St. Boniface on September 21, 1931, and lived for most of his life in Transcona on Plessis Road.

He was an extremely hard worker and provided well for his family. Paul was proud of his time spent with the CNR and Winnipeg Transit’s Treasury Department.

Upon retirement, Paul selflessly devoted many hours of his time in support of the Knights of Columbus by working at pancake breakfasts and helping to manage the operations of the Senior Centre. He was an avid bridge player and never met a game of cards he didn’t like. Paul also enjoyed many happy years at Betula Lake.

Paul will be missed by his many friends at Seine River Retirement Residence.

Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 505 Brewster Street. Refreshments will be served following Mass. Desjardins Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

And rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you

in the palm of His hand.
