GLORIA JOAN BROWN

(nee HOLLENDER)

1940 - 2024

Gloria Brown, late of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on October 9, 2024.

Gloria was born March 9, 1940, to Mary and Henry Hollender. She grew up in North Kildonan, living in houses built by Henry in his free time. Gloria enjoyed a career at Great West Life, working with some of the earliest computers.

In 1958, she married Bob Brown and they soon welcomed their son Glen and daughter Cathy. Gloria and Bob enjoyed many years at the family cabin at Lee River, but were truly blessed when they bought their trailer at Spruce Sands. At the trailer, they made friends that became family. Their Spruce Sands family welcomed Gloria’s new husband Abe in 2013 with open arms and open hearts. Gloria and Abe had 10 happy and fun years at the trailer together.

Gloria was also fortunate in her lifetime to be part of two vibrant and welcoming church communities at Grace Lutheran Church and Portage Avenue Church.

Left to mourn her loss are her husband Abe Friesen, her son Glen (Vandana), her daughter Cathy (Mike), and her granddaughters, Emily and Mary. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Bob Brown, her brother Ronald and his wife Georgina Hollender.

Gloria’s stay at Riverview Health Centre was short but so comfortable thanks to the attentive and caring staff on 3East.

Per Gloria’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
