Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROLANN BANNATYNE
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we mourn the passing of Carolann.
Carol will be forever missed by her husband of 51 years, Ross Bannatyne, son Jason (Kristen), and her two wonderful granddaughters, Avery and Brynn.
Carol was predeceased by her mother Pearl, father Preston and brothers, Pat and Preston II. Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Vicky (Peter), Doreen (Brian), Dale (Steve) and brothers, Larry (Kim) and Tim (Margaret), sisters-in-law, Nancy and Mary Lynn and brother-in-law Grant. Other family members include stepmother Joyce, sister-in-law Daily, stepsiblings, Mike (Rhonda), Karen (Andre) and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carol grew up in Winnipeg as part of a large family. Carol’s love for her family was her most precious gift to all. She was their peace maker, avenger, challenger and once she had you caught in her web of reason, she would speak softly until you were doing things her way without knowing it.
Not only did Carol use this approach on her siblings, but in business as well. Carol saw relationships as the path to productivity which resulted in a long and honoured career of over 51 years in the insurance industry. Her career began when she was 18 years old where she worked for Mr. Long’s agency in Elmwood. This experience paved the road as he inspired her to continue her career in becoming a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP). Carol’s drive and dedication furthered her career to Hayhurst Elias Dudek (HED) as a Commercial Underwriter, moving up to the Underwriting Manager position, and later Vice President of Underwriting. With Western Financial’s acquisition of HED in 2009, Carol continued on in her role as Vice President of Underwriting until retirement in 2021.
In her spare time, Carol enjoyed competitive curling and also served as President of the Charleswood Business Girls league. She also loved golfing, playing crib, great music and spending summers at her Happy Place - the cabin in Lac Du Bonnet.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Grace Hospital and Carol’s many home care nurses for their endless care, concern and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Charleswood United Church (4820 Roblin Blvd.) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I was lucky enough to have Carol as a mentor. Not only did she impact me in a professional way, encouraging me to be true to myself, bold and unafraid of challenges, she also taught me so much about being a considerate, kind and responsible person. She led by example. I was blessed to call her a friend and I will miss her dearly. My sincere condolences to Ross, Jason and family. - Posted by: Naomi Ali (Friend and Co-worker ) on: Oct 25, 2024

I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing.. Carol and I were best friends in Junior High School Carol took me under her wing when I moved into the PMQ’s, we were Army Brats.. Carol was more outgoing than I was, back then We had a lot of fun together ONE time we got ourselves into a bit of trouble. I did not want my mom to find out about it. She knew that, about a year or so later… she told her…so much for the secret..HaHa!! My sincere condolences… Lynne Williams (Bruce) - Posted by: Lynne Williams (Bruce) (Junior High School friend) on: Oct 21, 2024

Eternal rest grant unto Carol, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul rest in peace. Thank you so much Carol for your kindness and generosity. You've taught me more than just work—you've shared your life with me, and that’s something I truly value. I’ll always remember the advice you’ve given and, of course, those chocolates! I love when you call me "kid"—it always makes me feel a little younger. And I’ll never forget how you'd sing "Anna" whenever you came to my spot. It always made me smile. Carol, I'll miss those moments with you. Our condolences to the family left behind and praying for God's comfort and peace. - Posted by: Ana Santo Domingo (Friend/Co-Worker) on: Oct 21, 2024
