It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Trenna Kanski on October 17, 2024, at the age of 77. Trenna was born on July 20, 1947 to Jack and Pat (Sweeney) Mitchell and lived most of her life in Winnipeg, MB.
Trenna had only a few jobs in her time here, notably as a Hair Stylist for many years and finally as an Administrative Assistant at Red River College before retiring to live in one of her favorite places near Winnipeg Beach. She loved lake life, going for swims, tirelessly tending her gardens, her beloved summer flower arrangements and sitting around the fire with friends and family. She never missed the opportunity to share cold beverages with the neighbors, “cocktail hour” as she liked to call it. She passed the cold winter months of Manitoba by traveling to her favorite places in Nevada, Las Vegas and more recently Laughlin. Throughout her life, she was an avid and dedicated gambler spending many an eight-hour shift in front of her favourite slot machines she enjoyed playing so much. In her words, the attraction of the bright flashing lights, bells and whistles just called her name.
She was survived by her sons, Kevin Kanski (Jamie), and Rob Kanski (Pinky); her brothers Bob and John Mitchell; her nephews Danny, Gord, Brian, Cameron and Graham.
May she find peace and a grand casino in wherever lies beyond, she will be missed, loved and not forgotten.
To honor her wishes, no service will be held.

Kevin, Rob, and family... just came across Trenna's obituary, truly saddened to hear of her passing. I enjoyed many an afternoon puttering about as Trenna oversaw my efforts from the back deck or verandah. Thankful to have been a brief part of her 'lake life'. Kevin and Rob, we are so sorry to hear about Trenna’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. We will always remember Trenna fondly and have wonderful memories of time spent together at Ponemah and at the Gimli Lawnbowling Club. We’ll never forget the look on her face when we had her over to sample a glass of Icelandic Stout! (But she finished it!) Trenna was one of the first people to welcome me upon my joining the RRC workforce. She took many moments to assist and support me in my new role. As we became friends she served as confidant and also teammate in several intramural activities. Trenna was up to try most anything! Volleyball, slo-pitch and curling. One exceptional memory was curling in a Winnipeg Beach bonspiel. Dressing up was not required, but we did so anyway! Trenna embraced the moment, donning a long black wig and fake derrière and exclaiming with our teammates, “The Kardashians are here!” Many good memories of times spent with Trenna. Kevin, Rob and families we were saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. We first met you and your parents many years ago in Winnipeg and became acquainted again at the lake when we moved there.
