The family of Stella Smyrski (nee Janczyn) are saddened to announce that Stella passed in the early hours of Sunday, October 20, 2024, in her 95th year.

The family would like to provide heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Park Manor, where Stella had lived, happily, and well cared for almost three years.

Stella was born in the RM of Brokenhead, in Manitoba, and spent her childhood in Ladywood. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul.

Stella and Paul had four wonderful sons, who she loved, and spoke often of how proud she was of them.

Stella was fortunate to have met Vern Smith, who was a supportive companion for years. Stella is survived by her sons, John (wife Sue, granddaughter Robin, and her husband Sheldon); Gary (wife Linda, granddaughter Jacqueline, her husband Marc, and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Keana); granddaughter Julie (great-grandson Everett); and grandson Paul (wife Allia); Kenneth; and Raymond (wife Derby, granddaughter Janet).

Cremation has occurred. As per Stella’s request, a private Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in Stella’s memory, to Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2C 1L7.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My condolences to the entire family. Though it has been a very long time since I have seen Auntie Stella, I remember her with great fondness. - Posted by: Dianna Wreford (nee Trojanoski) (niece) on: Oct 28, 2024

  • Hi guys. I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a kind and caring person who always made me feel welcome. My fondest memories would be the polka sewing always going on in the living room. If you knew her you would know what I am talking about. My thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: Gerry Walterson (Friend ) on: Oct 26, 2024

  • Our heartfelt condolences to you all. Your mom, mom-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother was the most kindest person I have ever had the privilege to know. For our wedding, she gave us these beautiful cross stitched patterns and had them in a circular frame. We have cherished them these past 34 years. Our thoughts are with you all. May flights of angels carry her to her rest. - Posted by: Gail Gering (nee Trojanoski) (niece) on: Oct 26, 2024

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Stella. Every Thursday it was a joy to take Stella to the hairdresser for her weekly appointment. Such a wonderful lady, always excited to have her hair done. She was an absolute delight and I was so saddened to hear of her passing. I so looked forward to seeing her and she will be missed. My deepest Condolences to her family. - Posted by: Linda (Volunteer ) on: Oct 26, 2024
