The family of Werner Helmut Maskus of Winnipeg is saddened to announce his passing on October 22, 2024, at the age of 74.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Russell (Jana), Heather (Stephen) and Nancy and his grandchildren: Violet, Cordelia and Fletcher as well as his brothers, Erwin (Edith) and Rolfe (Virginia) as well as other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hedwig and Helmut.
Werner was born in Germany on December 2, 1949, and immigrated to Canada as a child. The family moved to Winnipeg, eventually settling in Charleswood where Werner attended Charleswood Collegiate. He struck out on his own in the world but eventually, him and his wife Deborah, settled their young family back in Charleswood in 1990 where Werner lived until his passing.
Werner made a career of concrete work in the Maskus family business alongside his brother, Erwin. During his retirement Werner most enjoyed his time spent gardening, hunting, fishing, “going to the track”, helping his kids with their projects and seeing his grandkids.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
