GORDON HUGH BOUCHER

Gordon Hugh Boucher passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024.

He was born in Winnipeg on September 20, 1926. He grew up on the family farm of Albert and Louise Boucher in the Swan River area and became a journeyman electrician in Dauphin. In 1948 Gordon joined the Manitoba Power Commission known today as Manitoba Hydro. Starting as a journeyman electrician, Gordon stayed with the organization until 1971 at which time he was the Administrative Officer for Labour Relations. In 1971 Gordon became the Director of Employee Relations at the University of Manitoba which he held until 1978. In 1978 Gordon was appointed to be the Special Consultant to the Minister of Labour for the Province of Manitoba. In 1979 he was promoted to be the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Province of Manitoba until his retirement. Gordon was a past president of the Hy-Line Credit Union. He was also a charter member and past president of the Canadian Institute of Management, Manitoba Branch.

Gordon was married to Betty Clarice Willis on December 26, 1949. Together they raised four children, Brad, Shauna, Brett and Lindy. Gordon was quite the handyman as he built their family home on Whytewold Road which included a detached woodshop. The family enjoyed travelling for vacations largely prompted by Betty.

Gordon was predeceased by Betty and Shauna.

In addition to his children Gordon leaves behind his grandchildren, Gordy and Leigh.

The family expresses its gratitude for the care provided over the last few years by the staff at Thorvaldson Care Centre and Extendicare Kildonan where Gordon spent his last days.

A graveside service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on November 14 at 2:00 p.m. with an onsite gathering after the service.
