Uncle George was always in our life, Whether it was a invite to his cottage or the many times we went out for dinner and a host of other things. They had us for lunch for my 73rd birthday in Sept not realizing that would be the last time I would see him. George loved to golf and fortunately I would get that call in the summers, meet me at Rossmere Golf Club which was always fun. Lots of times David would join us too. Rest in peace Uncle George. Mr. Kursk was the Director at NWCFS when I started my career as a social worker. I remember we would have to go meet with him to ask for special funding for various things and a sure way to get our requests approved was to first ask how the cottage construction was progressing. George would eagerly pull out the cottage blueprints from under his desk blotter, provide an update and usually, would gladly approve our requests. He was a truly lovely guy who was always kind and helpful. My deepest condolences to Mr. Kuryks family. - Posted by: Kirstin Magnusson (Former employee) on: Nov 02, 2024

To Lydia, Wendy, David and Cathy, We are so sorry to hear of George's passing. I always looked forward to seeing him at the Miller family gatherings, he was such a nice man, and he would always spend time with the kids. He would never let on during the after dinner bridge games, men only, when my brother I would sneak under the table and try to untie the adult's shoes. Our thought are with you. George was my first supervisor as a brand new social worker at CAS of Wpg and I am so grateful to him for being a kind and sensible leader. He was patient and always willing to provide clear, good direction. I went on to have a successful 40 year career and always cited George as the ideal person to have as a supervisor and an important mentor. He was so proud of his family and I have wonderful memories of watching him jitter bug with Lydia at the annual CAS Christmas party. All my sympathy to the family in the loss of such a good man. - Posted by: Shirley (Klassen) Reimer (former co-worker) on: Nov 02, 2024
