Reg passed away peacefully at home in Winnipeg on October 23, 2024.
Reg was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Judy Anne Low (nee Ridge), his daughter Janet Chilas (Nick), his granddaughters, Tia and Anne Chilas, his grandsons, Carson and Davis Low, his sister Shiela Rabe (Bruce), his nephew Sean (Tonya), and sons, Jacob and Ty. Reg was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Irene Low and his son David.
Reg was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 14, 1939. He moved to Winnipeg with his family and spent his childhood years in Charleswood. Following high school, he attained a Business Management degree from the University of Manitoba.
He started his own business in 1976 and in time this evolved into a successful acoustical panel manufacturing business, Sound Concepts Canada Inc. His son David joined the company in 2001 until his untimely death in 2022.
Reg was a dedicated member of the community for over 60 years which resulted in many lifelong friends. Reg was an extrovert with strong communication skills, and a natural born leader.
Volunteering was Reg’s strong suit. Over the years he was involved in many organizations including The Winnipeg Optimist Club where he served as president and District Secretary Treasurer. Reg also served as president of Sales and Marketing Executives and Junior Achievement. Reg was known as the ultimate organizer. If a job needed doing, just ask Reg and it was done.
In 1986 Reg was honoured to serve as the Campaign Chair for the United Way of Winnipeg, a job he cherished. He continued to be a proud supporter both corporately and personally to this date.
Reg enjoyed every moment of his long association with the Winnipeg Football Club. He was invited to join the board in 1983 and served as president from 1994 to 1995. He was always their biggest fan and there to help when needed. Reg was inducted into the Winnipeg Blue Bomber Hall of Fame in 2012, and has chaired that committee until the present.
As a member of the Manitoba Club he served on many committees, and was appointed president in 2009. He always had a keen interest in the success of the Club and the restoration projects. He enjoyed snooker and dinner with his friends at the Club for many years.
Reg was a member of St. Charles Golf and Country Club for 25 years. He enjoyed golf in his leagues and especially the camaraderie and weekly discussions with the guys in his Wednesday league.
For many years Reg and Judy have enjoyed winter months in Naples, Florida at their condo at Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club, golfing and enjoying good times with friends.
We will remember Reg for his hard work, his love for his wife and family and pride in their accomplishments. He wanted the best for us all and that he achieved.
Reg lived life to the fullest. Let’s remember him for his generous spirit, his keen sense of humour, his quick wit and his love of sharing a good glass of scotch.
A Celebration of Reg’s Life will take place at a later date.
If you wish, donations may be made to the United Way of Winnipeg, 580 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1C7.

My sincerest condolences to the Low family. My relationship with Mr Low is one, somewhat different, one where I met Mr Low, during his airline travels. At all times during the last number of years, and quite a few at that, Mr Low travelled, and was one individual who was cordial, and respectful. Being close of age, we had many a time of jovial discussions, and banter. My prayers are with the family during these difficult times. - Posted by: Claude Nolin (Acquaintance) on: Nov 11, 2024

Dear Judy, please accept deepest my condolences on the passing of Reg your husband and partner. I can relate to what you're going through as I am just starting to feel better after Elaine's passing in December 2022. I can only give you a little advice to help you grieve, keep your family and friends close and they will help you through this. My wife Joan and I met Reg in the early 80’s through his and my involvement in the WFC. A staunch friend and confidant. He was always supportive, outgoing and a hard worker. It came as a surprise that my wife and Reg shared the same uncle from different sides of two families. This brought us even closer to a real gentleman. He will be missed but never forgotten. - Posted by: Ross Brown (Friend) on: Nov 05, 2024
