Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDIANE LOUISE SANDBERG
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Diane Louise Sandberg (nee Clake) at the age of 90, on November 2, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Diane was born on December 23, 1933, and lived a life full of love, joy, and devotion to her family and friends. She will be forever remembered as a cherished wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Diane was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert Sandberg, and by her daughter, Gale. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Danny, Judy, Karen, Carol - partner Tom, and son-in-law Larry (Gale) and by her grandchildren: Kris, Jesse, and Nick, Jasmine and Sean. Diane will also be deeply missed by her extended family, including nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom were an important part of her life.
Diane and Robert’s love story began on a tennis court in Winnipeg, where Robert, struck by Diane’s athleticism and charm, asked her to be his doubles partner. From that moment on, their partnership blossomed into a lifelong love, filled with shared experiences, adventures, and mutual respect. Together, they built a family, a home, and a bond that lasted for just over 70 years. Their love for each other remained a constant source of joy and inspiration throughout their lives.
Diane’s love for life was reflected in her many passions. Summers were spent at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach, where she enjoyed time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing curling, golf, and tennis, and was a longtime member of the Unicity Racquet Club. Diane also had a lifelong love of bridge, playing weekly with friends until her final days.
In her professional life, Diane worked for many years as an administrator at the University of Manitoba. After retiring, Diane and Bob embraced the snowbird lifestyle, spending their winters in Pharr, Texas, where they formed many lasting friendships.
Diane and Bob spent their final years at Parkway Retirement Community, where they made many cherished friendships and were surrounded by a supportive and caring community. Diane’s warmth, kindness, touched everyone she met, and she will be fondly remembered by her friends and neighbours.
A family service will be held to celebrate Diane’s life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to charity of choice in her memory.
Though Diane is no longer with us, her spirit, her love, and her joy for life will remain in our hearts forever. She is now at peace, reunited with Robert and Gale.

This is the end of an era for me. Diane was good friends with my Mum Lenore Cameron who passed in 2010. I’ll never forget Friday nites meal (sloppy joes) and going to the PanAm pool. Going to the beach and washing our hair w rain water. Jokes were innumerable - she dressed as a witch one year for Halloween, coming to the front door And again to the back door - of course I yelled at her! Had my daughter Savannah knock on Gale’s door crying and said she was lost. So many great memories. She came to Toronto with my Mum and when I got home they’d wallpapered my kitchen cabinets w Jelly Beans! She came to NYC & CT when we lived there w my Mum. I’m so sorry for your loss Danny, Judy Carol & Karen. I know she will be greatly in Heaven by Gale and her beloved Bob. Au revior Diane - till we met again my friend x - Posted by: Barbara Cameron (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2024

I’ll never forget our Friday night dinners (sloppy joes) and going to the PanAm pool. She dressed up as a witch for Halloween one year and came to our back door - of course I yelled at her as she was just at the front door! Every Thursday the ladies got together for bridge. I can still hear the cackling from our living room. I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Mum Danny, Judy Carol & Karen. May she meet Gale & Bob in heaven …. - Posted by: Barbara Cameron (Friend) on: Nov 24, 2024
