DAVID LUTZ
In Loving Memory
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Lutz, who left us surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; her children, Brandi, Joey (Crystal), and Jordan (Baillie); as well as three grandchildren. David is also mourned by his brother, Bill (Joann), and extended family in Europe.
Born on June 26 in Winnipeg, David was the youngest of four brothers and was raised by his mother. He grew up in the North End, forming lifelong friendships, and graduated from Tec Voc High School. His love for learning led him to attend RRC Polytech, where he became a Red Seal journeyman carpenter at the age of 21.
David’s career as a carpenter took him far and wide, with a particular passion for building bridges. His work allowed him to travel extensively, experiencing new places and gaining knowledge in many areas. A polymath with varied interests, David also enjoyed teaching motorcycle safety, racing bikes, attending concerts, and travelling to destinations such as Europe, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, Arizona, and Mexico. He was an avid history enthusiast, loved music, and had a passion for stereo systems. He had a unique knack for making the most of life, whether through good times with friends or moments of quiet reflection.
Though David had a rugged exterior, those who knew him best saw the warmth and humour that lay within. He was deeply devoted to his beloved dog, Lola, and was a man of many passions, big and small.
David was predeceased by his mother, Hendrikje, and his brother, Roy. The family is forever grateful to Dr. MacMillan and the CancerCare team as well as, Dr. Hiebert and the staff at Riverview for their care and compassion in David's final days.
Grief is the price of love, and though we mourn his passing, there are no goodbyes for us.
A come and go celebration of David’s life will be held on November 15 at the Hartford Legion from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

I knew Dave off and on for most of our lives. My mom and Dave's mom were friends and Dave and I became friends. We drifted apart in later years due to health reasons of mine. I thought of Dave often and hoped for him to do well. I was happy for him and his marriage Dave deserved and earned himself a great life. See you on the other side my old friend. - Posted by: Peter Davis (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2024
