It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother on November 6, 2024, at the age of 87.
Simone was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Hilaire (Larry), her parents, Leon and Alice Thorimbert and her in-laws, Rene and Marie Grandmont, John and Myrna Grandmont, Edmond and Rose-Marie Grandmont, Louis Grandmont and Guy Lacroix. She is survived by her sisters, Agnes, Jeannette (Richard), brother Gerald (Alice), sister-in-law Helena Grandmont and nieces and nephews.
Mom will be sadly missed by her four children, Wayne (Kristine), Denis (Joy), Rachelle, Lianne and her adored five grandchildren, Lauren (Davis), Robert, Jacqueline (Mitchell), Dillon and Sarah.
Simone was born on December 31, 1936, in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB and grew up in St Claude, MB. Mom moved to Winnipeg at 18 years of age to work at St. Boniface Hospital. After raising her children, she worked at Canadian Tire and Fabricland before her retirement.
Mom was devoted to her family and dedicated to her faith. Mom opened her heart and home to anyone who needed it. Her generous spirit and warm smile created a home filled with love. Her vocation was to care for others including animals. She may have been a mom to four but she was a second mom to so many. She was an avid seamstress, especially loved making Halloween costumes. She loved to garden, cook and bake. Some of her family favourites were her canned peaches, crepes with caramel sauce and her famous cinnamon buns.
A personal joy of hers was enjoying the outdoors. This past year, sitting outside feeling the sun’s warmth on her face gave her immense comfort.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 16 at St. Hyacinthe Parish. 27 Rue Beaudry, La Salle. MB. The eulogy begins at 10:10 a.m. Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. The interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank her family doctor of 40 years, Dr. Brian Sharkey, for his dedication and care.

Lots of wonderful memories of working with Simone at Canadian Tire from the early to mid 70s until 1980 when I moved to B.C. to manage a Canadian Tire store. Simone & Emily were my rocks in the warehouse that I managed at a relatively young age. They were like my 2nd Moms, both of them!! We unloaded trucks together, then they went to work sorting the merchandise and pricing it (those were the days when every item had to have a price tag on it). We were like a family. We celebrated birthdays and other family events. Larry and Paul (Emily's husband) were always talked about! They came to my house for parties and you would not have known they were 17 to 18 years old than me. What a group...Shannon, Simone, Emily, Cathy, Maxine, Ralph, Jim, Murray, Phil, Mary Tat, just to name a few. Even Mr. Byles, the store owner used to attend the parties...LOL. It was very special. We would go out for lunch often as well. And Simone was a very special lady. Always had a smile on her face. Always was calm and collected. Always remembered my birthday and other occasions. I have so many memories of so much fun with her and the other ladies and guys at the Tire. I last saw Simone when she and Larry were at Dr. Sharkey's office years ago. My Doctor shared office space with Dr. Sharkey and I had an appt at the same time. I wish we had got together to reminisce about all the great times we had working in that warehouse. My sincere condolences to the family. Simone will be missed! - Posted by: Cliff King (Friend) on: Nov 13, 2024
