SHIRLEY ARLENE TRUMPER

It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Trumper (nee Collicutt).

Shirley was born to George and Dorothy Collicutt on September 14, 1947, the eldest of four children.

Shirley was a beautiful person and was loved by all who knew her. By God’s grace, Shirley had a deep faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mourning her passing are her husband Mark, sister Bev (Gord), brother Herb (Yvette) of Cornwall, ON, and brother Greg (Bev); nephews, Craig Oliver (Roberta), Patrick Collicutt (Julie) of Montreal, Nicholas Collicutt (Natalie) of Montreal, David Collicutt (Ashley) and Justin Collicutt (Jennifer); nieces, Andrea Pott (Darren) and Charissa Dyck (Rob); great-nephews, Liam Oliver, Spencer Collicutt, Braden Pott, and Xander Dyck; great-nieces, Caitlyn and Kassidy Oliver, Chloe, Abby, and Alyssa Collicutt, Skye Dyck and Natalie Pott; and numerous cousins.

At age 11, possibly due to a polio outbreak, Shirley required a serious operation on her back. Just before the operation, she prayed "God help me to be brave!" and she was brave. Regrettably, for the rest of her life, her back was never straight. However, she said there was no pain, and she never complained. Shirley’s beautiful personality was intact for the rest of her life.

Shirley began her working career as a teacher, teaching French to middle and high school students in Wawanesa, Manitou, Winnipeg and Pinawa. She was much loved by her students. After seven years of teaching Shirley left to work at CIBC for several years. Following that, she worked as the church secretary/office administrator at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral and after 16 years she retired in 2011.

In 1999, Shirley began attending worship services at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church. It was there she met her future husband, Mark Trumper. After a seven year courtship (!!!) Mark finally proposed and they were married on November 16. 2007 at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral. By God’s grace Mark and Shirley were so compatible and happy together. They enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 17 years filled with much love for each other.

To say that Shirley will be deeply missed is a huge understatement. For her husband Mark and all her family and friends she will be forever in our hearts.

Mark and family wish to thank the clergy and staff at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church and St. John’s Anglican Cathedral for all their love and moral support.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 160 Ethelbert Street, Winnipeg. Interment at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery.

Anyone wishing to donate in Shirley’s memory, can make it to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 160 Ethelbert Street, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1V7.

Rest in Peace, Shirley,

know that you are deeply loved.

  • Dear Mark and Family: Our heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Shirley. She was a wonderful, caring friend when we were roommates in Manitou, MB. where we were teaching. She was an exceptional teacher and everyone loved her smile and her laugh. We had the honour of having her as a bridesmaid at our wedding 52 years ago.
