ELAINE FINNBOGASON

(nee MCINNES)

1931 - 2024

On November 13, just after her 93rd birthday, Elaine passed away peacefully in the early morning hours.

She is survived by her children, David (Cathy), Lizann (Jim) and Janet (Dean), and by her nine grandchildren, their partners and her two great-grandchildren. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was always a “favourite aunt”. Elaine was predeceased by the love of her life, Chris, in 2013.

Trips to Hawaii and Europe were wonderful, but Mackies Island on Lake of the Woods was her favourite place to be. It was here that she spent her summers as a child, raised her children, watched her grandchildren grow and welcomed the fourth generation.

Although her last few years were difficult ones, Mom always remained the kind, gracious and gentle woman she always was.

The kindness, care and dignity that the entire staff of Station 2 at Tuxedo Villa extended to Mom over the past two and a half years was extraordinary. She knew she was safe and loved and we are extremely grateful.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So sorry to read of Elaine's passing. Our group of “home ec’ers” were able to meet on a regular basis for over 60 years. We shared tales of our families and over the past few years, reminisced about the old days. Elaine was always the shining light at our gatherings, always smiling and never a negative word. My deepest sympathy to all her family. She leaves you with memories of many happy times. She surely will be missed. - Posted by: Joan dyson (Friend. (For over70 years)) on: Nov 30, 2024

  • We haven't been in touch in recent years, but my Aunt Elaine was a real jewel in my life experience. When and wherever I did engage with her, she was always kind, loving, inquisitive and affirming. She reminded me so much of her mother. Both of them just sparkled whenever they entered a room. - Posted by: Rob McInnes (Relative) on: Nov 27, 2024

  • To all the Finnbogason Family, on behalf of my mother, Donna Macaw, I send my deepest condolence's. I always remember Donna always speaking so fondly of Elaine and the Finnbogason family. She will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Sidney (Daughter of family friend.) on: Nov 23, 2024
